Flask

Pilgrim flask, a circular, flat earthenware bottle with a neck. The flask is glazed brown with moulded decoration. In the centre is a basket of flowers, with rose sprays around the edge. At the bottom is the figure of a dancing nymph holding a branch, and a sceptre based on a wall painting at Pompeii. On the neck is a full length figure representing Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805) wearing a hat and holding a speaking trumpet.
