Jug

White earthenware jug, painted in overglaze enamels with an oval portrait of Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805) in uniform and a cocked hat inscribed below 'ADMIRAL NELSON'. The figure is coloured in light blue, black and yellow on a dark red background, against which the masts of a ship are visible. On the other side there is a black and grey anchor fouled with yellow rope. The jug has blue painted borders and edges to the handle, and there is a small leaf sprig painted under the lip.
