Jug

Buff, salt glazed stoneware toby jug, modelled as a half-length figure of Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805), in Rear-Admiral's uniform and wearing a hat. The stars of the orders of the Bath, Crescent and St Ferdinand are embroidered on his coat and he wears three medals, a Naval gold medal on his coat and two around his neck, one inscribed 'NILE 1798'. Nelson's pigtail forms the handle of the jug, and the inscription 'TRAFALGAR 1805/England expects every man to do his duty' is impressed on the base.
