Metal record case.

Metal record case, originally thought to house the last record of Sir John Franklin's expedition (HSR/C/9/1), but the dimensions do not match the rust stains on message. It is not the record case that housed the message from Back Point, which is at the Scott Polar Research Institute.

This item is described in the Royal Naval Museum, Greenwich 1913 Catalogue as being on display in the Franlkin Gallery, Case 11, Object 14 and described as 'Tin cylinder for holding records'.
