Disposition of George Walker to Thomas Walker or Mrs Betty Cranford, 5 September 1755

A trust disposition was another form of testamentary deed used in Scotland. It allowed an individual to make arrangements for the transfer of landed property to their chosen heirs. In Walker's disposition he transfers his property to his brother Thomas, then to Betty Cranford, the wife of the Reverend Gershom Stuart. It includes a reference to ‘what money shal be recovered of the sums due me by the manadgers of the Royal family private ships of war’.
