Articles of agreement between the crew and owners of the AMBUSCADE
These articles are an agreement between John Hutchinson, John Cook and Samuel Waller, the owners of the AMBUSCADE, and the ship’s captain William Roberts and his crew. The agreement sets out the terms of employment, who was responsible for provisioning the ship, and how any prizes captured by the AMBUSCADE would be divided: a schedule describes the share each rank on the ship would receive. The agreement is signed (or marked) by the ship’s entire crew of 200 officers, seamen, landsmen and boys.
