Agreement between Captain William Roberts and John Hutchinson relating to Roberts’ debt to Hutchinson
The agreement concerns settling the debts Roberts built up the LORD CLIVE and AMBUSCADE, which amounted to £2084. Roberts is described as part owner of the LORD CLIVE and AMBUSCADE private ships of war, and Hutchinson as a broker of London and owner, manager and manager’s agent for the LORD CLIVE and the AMBUSCADE. The assignment includes two schedules: accounts of payments and disbursements made by William Roberts, which offer some insight into the provisions required for this type of voyage; and accounts of monies to be received by Roberts.
