Figure group

An overglaze enamel painted earthenware figure group depicting a sailor and lass. She sits on a wall on a grassy mound wearing a pink overdress and red floral petticoat, spotted shawl and a bonnet. The sailor kneels on the wall, handing her a full purse, a box of dollars beneath his foot. He has a blue jacket, pink waistcoat, striped blue and white trousers and a black neckerchief and hat. His hair is worn in a pigtail. Both figures have black shoes with rosettes. The group stands on a brown base inscribed 'RETURN'.
