Figure

A flat-backed, standing figure of a sailor with a red banner, also found as the right-hand side of a group with a matching soldier on the other side. It is supported by a wall pierced by three gun muzzles with a pile of shot at the base. The left arm holding the banner is unpainted, the jacket and neckerchief coloured black, the banner red and the straw hat, yellow. The face is in natural colours and the sailor has long hair and a beard without moustaches. The figure stands on an enclosed oval base with a gilt line around it and is painted in overglaze enamels with the details picked out in gilt.
