Day or night telescope

This achromatic telescope has a wooden barrel and two brass draw tubes. The other brass fittings include a sliding eyepiece cover, an objective lens cap with a sliding cover and a sliding sun shade. An inscription on the smallest draw tube names the maker and telescope type - 'Ramsden London. Day or Night'. In addition, 'VII' in roman numerals is roughly inscribed inside the eyepiece assembly, presumably as part of the manufacturing process.
