HMS 'Minotaur' was launched at the Thames Ironworks on 12 December 1863. At 400 feet, she was even longer than the 'Warrior'. She had ram bows and armour plating that was 5.5 inches thick and used 1,800 tons of armour plate, as against 900 tons for the 'Warrior'.
