Ship carving

Ship carving (from top of stern), possibly from HMS 'Beagle'. In the centre an escutcheon bearing a dog, a winged cherub's head above, supported at the sides by cherubs holding festoons of flowers. At the ends, cherubs blowing horns, seated on hippocampi. Some of the figures are also finished on the back. Part of a collection of material belonging to Rear Admiral John Lort Stokes (1811-1885).
