H.M.S. 'Lion' metal fragment
A fragment of twisted metal from Q turret of HMS 'Lion' hit by an enemy shell at the Battle of Jutland 31 May 1916. Mounted with one screw on an oval wooden base, lined underneath with green baize. It was picked up by Telegraphist George Lea RN (1897-1975), who was carrying a message when thrown over by the blast and then thrown again by the flooding of the magazine. He mounted it as a memento.
