Damaged fork
A four-pronged plated table fork, bent and twisted by heat. It was damaged in the eruption of Mount Pelée, Martinique on 8 May 1902. Associated with Captain Edward William Freeman, who navigated his ship SS 'Roddam' back to St Lucia, having survived exposure to the pyroclastic flow which swept over the harbour.
