William IV, Great Seal, 1831-8. William IV bare-headed, cloaked and holding a baton in his right hand, rides along a quay, off which are seen a two-decked and a first-rate man-of-war under sail. In the exergue, a trident encircled by a ribboned wreath. Inscription: 'GULIELMUS . QUARTUS . DEI . GRATIA . BRITANNIARUM . REX.FIDEI . DEFENSOR'. The cast is mounted on an emulsioned plywood backboard with a label.
