        Two casts, obverse and reverse, of a lifesaving medal of the Lancashire Humane Society. Obverse:  Inscription: 'SOC . LANC . IN RESUSCITAT . INTERMORTUORUM INST . MDCCLXXXIX RENOV . MDCCCXXIV', 'SUSCITET AC REDDAT NATIS CARISQUE PROPINQUIS' (Lancashire Society for the recovery of persons in a state of suspended animation; to revive and restore them to their children and dear kindred.) Reverse: 'GUTTA CAVAT LAPIDEM NON VI SED SAEPE CADENDO'. [A water drop hollows a stone, not by force, but by continuous dripping.] Partly Ovid, Epistulae ex Ponto 4, 10, 5.
