Warship

Scale: Unknown. A sectional model of a fighting vessel which has been cast in wax showing the process of casting and finishing a waxed hull. The hull of the model is made entirely of wax and consists of a shell which ranges from five centimetres through to three centimetres in thickness, and probably represents the stern section of the model as it tapers towards the right hand side when looking at the model from the front. There are two rounded additions to the hull along the gunwale level which were probably intended to support some form of armour. At the narrow/stern end of the hull, the model shows the various stepped layers which are then carved down to the individual waterlines or lifts which are then further carved and smoothed to produce a finished hull which is at the forward end of the model. The colour of the wax is in its natural state so is a creamy yellow. The model is mounted on a wooden backboard of polished and stained mahogany with a moulded edge, and is connected to three wooden bulkheads internally.
