Royal Naval uniform: pattern 1795
This pair of epaulettes belonged to Admiral Sir William Cornwallis (1744-1819). It features the three silver stars that indicated the rank of Admiral. Each epaulette is edged with 16 bullions, 76 mm in length. It should be noted that the third star on each does not match, it is possible that these epaulettes were orginally purchased by Cornwallis in 1795 and altered when he was promoted in 1799.
