Dry compass

Card: A paper band is attached to the metal circumference and to the centre by fine silk threads. There is a black paper centre. The card is black with white markings graduated to 1/4 points and quadrantally in degrees.

Pivot: Consists only of an aluminium washer that holds the threads.

Needles: The eight needles, in 2 sets of 4, are suspended beneath the card by an independent silk thread system.
Lengths 3.5", 3.25", 2.75", 2.25" (8.9 cm, 8.3 cm, 7.0 cm 5.6 cm)
