Skeleton clock
A reproduction skeleton timepiece by Thwaites & Reed, London, made circa 1975
This skeleton clock has a ‘rafter’ frame, which is mounted to a mahogany base via two moulded brass plinths. The single fusee movement features a pin wheel, ‘Coup Perdu’ escapement. This escapement releases the second hand every other beat of the pendulum, which allows the clock to show true seconds whilst employing a half-second pendulum. The hour and subsidiary seconds dials are formed from a single piece of engraved and silvered brass with a six-pointed star to the open centre of the hour circle.
