Faraday (1874)
A 10x8 negative. A port side view, taken from ahead of the beam, of the cable ship Faraday (1874) at moorings in gravesend Reach, River Thames, showing her before the addition of extra accommodation amidships but after the removal of the iron frame which encicled her stern. She is rigged as a barquentine with four yards on her foremast. A large number of buoys are loaded onto her forward deck. There are various stores and coal lighters alongside. The original glass plate negative was broken and discarded but a 10x8 safety film copy and a full size photographic print are available.
