Oroya (1886)

A half plate negative. A starboard quarter view, taken from fine off the stern, of the passenger/cargo liner Oroya (1886) supposedly aground in the Bay of Naples, Italy. She is broadside on to the beach with her kedge anchors out. She is upright with no sign of any damage. She has short funnels and no yards on her foremast. The horizon is not level and the tops of her masts are out of the picture. The Oroya (1886) ran ashore near Naples 4 March 1895 and was not refloated until 23 April 1895. She was repaired at Belfast. A copy negative made by F C Gould & Son of a photographic print by an unknown photographer.
