Policy Statement

The health, safety and well-being of our employees, visitors and all individuals associated with the National Maritime Museum are paramount.

In all phases of design, construction, operation, and maintenance of our facilities and equipment, we are committed to taking every reasonable measure to prevent injuries and promote good health among our employees, volunteers, customers, visitors, contractors, and the public. The Board of Trustees and Executive Board of Directors are dedicated to providing the necessary information, training, supervision, and equipment to ensure the safety of our workforce.

We recognise the vital role of employee engagement in health and safety matters, as well as the positive impact of safety representatives and committees. Every member of our team is expected to fully cooperate in adhering to this policy and comply with all relevant regulations, including the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999.

It is necessary that all individuals within our organisation exercise due care for their own safety and that of others affected by their actions. The ultimate responsibility for the health, safety, and welfare of our organisation and employees rests with the Board of Trustees and Executive Board of Directors.
