Cross-curricular approaches to teaching and learning about the Ocean
Following the renewed government commitment to improving climate and sustainability education in the Curriculum and Assessment Review, this event aims to support teachers to embed relevant content and approaches in curriculum planning through the topic of 'Ocean'.
Join Learning Producers and Curators from the National Maritime Museum and Resource Creators from the UCL Centre for Climate Change and Sustainability Education to explore practical tips and resources for integrating ocean themes and content across the curriculum.
In addition to exclusive after-hours access to Ocean Court and the giant Ocean Map, teachers will also have the opportunity to:
- Find out about the new Ocean-themed teacher training module from the UCL Centre for Climate Change and Sustainability Education, ahead of its launch in autumn 2026
- Hear about the new book for children The Ocean Map: exploring our watery world, written by Contemporary Maritime Curator Aimee Mook
- Investigate objects and resources from the Our Ocean Our World primary schools session at the National Maritime Museum with Museum Learning facilitators
- Explore the Ocean Map and Ocean Court with Aimee Mook to discover fascinating ocean facts and stories
This event is most suited to primary school teachers and educators but is open to teachers at other key stages too.
