Photograph album including photographs taken during Lecky's naval service, 1898-1902. Includes photographs taken at Whale Island in Hampshire and Royal Naval College Portsmouth with many ships shown including the Plymouth destroyers SEAL, LYNX, SHARK, THRASHER and WOLF. There are several photographs taken in South Africa including some of kroomen (African soldiers recruited into the British Navy) and of Simon's Town, 1899, from where marines were sent to Graspan to replace the killed and wounded, and to where the wounded were taken to hopsital. There is also a photograph of the scene of the execution of Commandant Scheepers at Graff Reiner Cape Colony for rebellion in 1901. Other photographs include Lecky with other officers of the VINDICTIVE, Mediterranean squadron.
