In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board

No date recorded. Enclosure: This document appears to restate the original "Reasons Offered by Sir Charles Bickerstaffe for their Majesties Buying all sorts of English Timber at first hand" as well as containing a couple of objections thereto together with argument. Six reasons are put forward, including the prospect of securing greater quality assurance at reduced cost, the need to prevent rotten timber being included in deliveries, the advantages of securing winter felled timber, that the Crown would have the prime benefit of the Act governing the transportation of timber, the need to avoid the heavy charges involved in the early repair of war ships built from inferior timber. The sixth reasons essentially repeats the first.
