Papers of Thomas Arthur Bassett:
Certificate of Competency as Master (certificate number 030070), issued at Southampton in 1901. Commission appointing Bassett a sub-lieutenant in the Royal Naval Reserve, dated 13 November 1905. Two copies of a typescript letter seeking promotion to the rank of acting captain in the Royal Naval Reserve, dated 30 April 1918, forwarded to the Secretary of the Admiralty by Captain Henry V. Simpson, Principal Naval Transport Officer at Liverpool. Birth and death certificates, including a typescript copy of his birth certificate issued to his widow in India.

Papers of Helen Maud Bassett (née McEwan):
Letters sent with condolences and discussing a naval funeral for her late husband, including messages from the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty and Buckingham Palace, September and October 1918. Papers and printed leaflets relating to the Ministry of Pensions and arrangements for her to receive a war widow’s pension while living at Kotagiri in India, 1919-1957.
