Copies of letters of Edward Hawke Locker, 1814-1816.
Leatherbound volume containing contemporary copies of letters sent by Edward Hawke Locker, mostly from HMS CALEDONIA (1808) in the Mediterranean, dated between 20 January 1814 and 30 April 1816.
In this period Locker was civil secretary to Admiral Sir Edward Pellew, Commander-in-Chief of the Mediterranean Fleet. An index to the letters sent can be found at the back of the volume. The letterbook was later used as a scrapbook (by his son Arthur Locker?) for newspaper cuttings relating to the tea and sugar trades, railway reform and other business concerns, dated between 24 November 1864 and 22 April 1865.
