Correspondence, mainly between Henry Clifford and his family between 1821-1866. The letters (38 in total) cover both personal and professional matters and the earliest, from 1821, relate to Henry Clifford’s birth. In addition to his cable-laying career the letters refer to his ambition to be an artist, his early years as an engineering apprentice, and his business ventures. Most of the letters are transcribed in the family history volume also found in this collection (see RMG ID: CLF/1).
