The collection consists of letters, diaries, newspapers cuttings and photographs relating to the luxury steam yacht NAHLIN (1930), while it was in the ownership of Lady Yule. There are also papers relating to Edward VIII on holiday in the Mediterranean on board the yacht in 1936.

Lady Yule was the wife of Sir David Yule, a wealthy Calcutta jute merchant, who died in 1928. She commissioned the luxury steam yacht NAHLIN to be built by the John Brown & Co. Ltd. shipyard at Clydebank in 1929. In the following year Lady Yule and her daughter Gladys embarked on a world cruise in the NAHLIN and they stayed in New Zealand, Australia and Miami between 1931 and 1934.
