Letters (approximately 32 letters), dated c.Oct 1873 - December 1873, sent to Sir Francis Leopold McClintock, mostly relate to the death and funeral of the Irish polar explorer Robert McClure. Correspondents include: Sherard Osborn; Sir Robert John Le Mesurier McClure; McClure's widow; and ? Richards. The latter forms the bulk of the letters. Also relates to attempts to secure a pension for McClure's widow; and the remainder of the file predominantly dates to the 1850s and concerns McClintock's attempts to secure employment with the Admiralty on the Polar expedition.
