Hood family papers
The papers are chiefly those of Rear Admiral Samuel Hood (1762 - 1814) but also include some official correspondence of his elder brother Captain Alexander Hood (1758 - 1798) and some private correspondence of his cousins, Samuel Hood, Viscount Hood (1724 - 1816) and Alexander Hood, Viscount Bridport (1727 - 1814). There are also some Miscellaneous papers relating to the Hood family 1745-1870. These papers consist of a log and some signal books for the BARFLEUR and the AMIABLE. There is also a muster book for the AUDACIOUS, 1794 and three signal books for the HEBE. In addition to private and official correspondence there are some official service documents and a small collection of documents relating to the mutinies of 1797.
