Owen family papers
This collection covers the period 1761-1894 and includes the papers of three members of the Owen family, Captain William Owen (1737-1778) and his two sons, Admiral Sir Edward William Campbell Rich Owen (1771-1849) and Vice-Admiral William Fitzwilliam Owen (1774-1857). The papers came into the possession of Rear-Admiral Archibald Cochrane (1874-1952) through his mother who was born into the Owen family. Two of Cochrane's logbooks kept while he was a midshipman are included in the collection. For more information see the sub-collection, file and item level records.
