Biography of Captain Harold Smy, a bargemaster, who lived from 1902 to 1997 and mainly sailed the south-east corner of England. A series of anecdotal recollections of his life told by the man himself in a casual tone. Chapters cover: His family and how he started as a sailor, family life (wife and three children), his wartime work and his career after the war, racing and his final journey and retirement.
