RNLI day programme
Throw line training
Dry Berth | 11am-4pm
Join our local Tower lifeboat crew to practise throw lines and how you can safely help someone in the water.
Learn about the busiest lifeboat station in the country and the vital work they do on the Thames.
Get up close with Cutty Sark's lifesaving objects
Main Deck and Dry Berth | 11-1pm; 2pm-4pm
Come see some of the lifesaving equipment that would have been used onboard during Cutty Sark's sailing days. From lifejackets and charts to ships biscuits!
Gallery favourite talk: The Clipper Ship Hallowe'en
Tween Deck | From 11am, 12pm, 2pm,3pm,4pm
Come and learn about the dramatic rescue of Hallowe’en, which belonged to Cutty Sark's owner John Willis. Loaded with tea, Hallowe’en was wrecked off the South Devon coast and dramatically rescued by the brave crew of the RNLI Salcombe lifeboat Alexandra.
Rope making
Dry Berth | 11am-1pm; 2pm-4pm
Rope is an essential part of any lifeboat. Come along to learn a traditional rope-making method with a member of our team and leave with your own piece of handmade rope in RNLI colours!
