Topographische Erklatung des Panorama von Gibraltar 1812 (circular)
Print. This is a visitor key in German to a large circular panorama of Gibraltar, presumably one exhibited in Germany. The viewpoint is from the Devil's Tongue Battery, projecting from the fortifications on the west side of the Rock (and now within reclaimed land). Henry Aston Barker did such a view for exhibition at the Panorama, Leicester Square (May 1805 - May 1806), also publishing two aquatints based on that, see PAI7152 and 7153. If not Barker's panorama on tour, this may be a German version based on it. [PvdM 11/05; amended 11/24]
