Greenwich Hospital
This print is a standard copper-engraved view of the Royal Hospital for Seamen, Greenwich, as seen from the Thames, and probably copied from others similar. William III founded Greenwich Hospital in memory of his co-monarch and wife Queen Mary II, who had championed it. Sir Christopher Wren designed the buildings, and from 1705 the Hospital provided residential accommodation for maimed and destitute Naval seamen - the Greenwich Pensioners.
