A Rear Admiral in Malta

Unknown gentleman wearing officer's uniform of 1795-1812. Shows undress coat, epaulettes, cocked hat, blue pantaloons, black hessian boots, dirk and black stock. The single row of lace on the cuff identifies him as a Rear Admiral.
This is one of four watercolours painted in Malta and depicting officers. The other three officers in the series are captain.
