A group of engineers on board the general cargo heavy lift ship Empire Elaine (1942) while in the South China Sea.

An informal group photograph of five of the ship's engineers on board the general cargo heavy lift ship Empire Elaine (1942) while under way in the South China Sea. They are grouped around a coil of heavy mooring rope on the boat deck aft. Two of the accommodation ventilators have been detached and laid on the deck. The photographer is looking forward and to starboard. The photographer notes that this is the Orange Day celebrations, presumably referring to the Battle of the Boyne which took place on 1 July 1690 in the Julian calendar.
