Orient (1879)
        
        A quarter plate negative.  A port broadside view of the passenger/cargo liner Orient (1879) at moorings in Gravesend Reach, River Thames.  She has short funnels and has been refitted with a topgallant forecastle and a turtleback poop.   There are no yards on her masts.  The stern of a tug is on the left.  Tilbury is in the background.   A Gould copy of a Gould photographic print made from a negative which has not survived to be part of the NMM collection.
