Orient (1879)
A quarter plate negative. A copy of an unsigned and undated painting of the passenger/cargo liner Orient (1879) under way at sea with all sails set. The ship is shown from off her port side, just ahead of the beam, as completed with a flush deck, a small chart house, short funnels and yards on her fore and main masts as in service 1879-1882. A two masted lugger is close to the liner's bow. A Gould copy of a Gould photographic print made from a negative that has not survived to be acquired into the NMM collection.
