Armillary sphere. The primary sphere consists of eight iron rings. This object is difficult to date. The style of the numbers indicates that it is not medieval, yet the workmanship is extremely poor compared to the standards one expects of the sixteenth century. The use of iron is also unusual. The design, however, points to a date in the sixteenth century. The main impression is that it was made by an amateur. The instrument was formerly catalogued as being Italian but there is no evidence either to confirm or deny this.
