A 35mm roll film negative. On board the Rothesay class type 12 frigate Rhyl (1959) in Devonport Dockyard. In the junior rates mess on 3 deck between 23 and 27 stations. The photographer is looking forward and to port from the starboard aft corner of the mess showing two kit lockers on the right which have three coat hooks and a waste bin fixed to the side. A 3 tier bunk unit rigged for sitting is beyond these lockers. Four kit lockers, a wooden locker, a fan ventilation unit and an electric fire are against the forward bulkhead 23. On the extreme left two electric fires and a mirror are fixed to a pillar and beyond is the cartridge hoist from the magazine below. A 3 tier bunk rigged for sitting has a collapsible table and two tubular steel chairs in front of it. The photograph was taken prior to 9 May 1972.
