A 35mm roll film negative. On board the Rothesay class type 12 frigate Rhyl (1959) in Devonport Dockyard. In the junior rates mess on 3 deck between 23 and 27 stations. The photographer is looking aft and to port from the starboard side of the mess showing greatcoat lockers, suitcase lockers and a mess locker with a folded fire hose on it on the left. On the right is a pillar with two electric fires and a mirror fixed to it. On the extreme right is the cartridge hoist from the magazine below. Various lockers and two waste bins are on the right. In the centre are the stairs leading up to 2 deck with the watertight hatch leading down to 4 deck behind them. The photograph was taken prior to 9 May 1972.
