On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) in the north yard of Devonport Dockyard in June 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is in an unidentified junior rates mess on the forward end of 4 or 5 deck. He is looking at a triple tier bunk rigged for sleeping, kit lockers and a hinged table. A seaman's cap is on top of the kit lockers. A colour negative. Negatives numbers PM3149/27CN and PM3149/28CN are very similar.
