On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) in the north yard of Devonport Dockyard in June 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is in an unidentified junior rates mess on the forward end of 4 or 5 deck. He is looking between two triple tier bunk units rigged for sleeping with kit lockers, a hinged table and a chair beyond. A seaman's cap is on top of the kit lockers. A vertical format colour negative. Negatives numbers PM3149/29CN and PM3149/30CN are very similar.
