On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) in the north yard of Devonport Dockyard in June 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is in an unidentified junior rates or other ranks mess on the forward end of 4 or 5 deck. He is looking at triple tier bunk unit rigged for sleeping with a hinged table and a mirror on the bulkhead. Above the mirror is a sign 'Ship's company galley'. No junior rates or other ranks mess adjoins the ship's galley which is on 4 deck. A vertical format colour negative. Negatives numbers PM3150/31CN and PM3150/32CN are very similar.
