Hermes (1953). On the flight (1) deck during conversion.
        
        A 35 mm roll film negative.  On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) alongside 6 and 7 wharves in the north yard of Devonport Dockyard in early July 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier.  She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is in the starboard flight (1) deck walkway looking aft from 191 station.  The chemical foam locker of a fire point is in the foreground ahead of a scupper.  Two cable reels and an avcat fuel pump unit are beyond the scupper.  The submarine depot ship Forth (1938) and the submarine Andrew (1946) are alongside number 8 wharf in the background.   A vertical format negative.
