Phoenix of 44 guns
Phoenix, a fifth-rate frigate, is shown caught in a hurricane. The view is of the stern and starboard side of the vessel, with men clearly shown manning the helm. The vessel has lost its main mast and mizzen mast and is beam on to a heavy sea, a very vunerable position to be in. The fore topgallant mast and yard are missing, either lost or purposely removed due to high winds.
