The photographer is in the senior rates' mess between 61½ and 67 stations on the starboard side of 2 deck looking forward from the port side at station 66 showing a settee and a refrigerator against the port side bulkhead. A table and three chairs are in the centre of the mess and a teapot, jug, sugar bowl, cup, two ashtrays and cigarettes are on the table. Christmas paper chain decorations are under the deckhead.
